Excessive fuel consumption with my vespa et4 leader - can somebody help me please?

I have noticed recently that the initial acceleration speed is very poor and that i am using much more fuel than i should be - I believe it might be a carburetor problem having read some related forums but just to need to make sure before undertaking such a task.
